Carter Gowrie, President and CEO
A lifelong boater and international small boat racer, Carter is a graduate of Union College in Schenectady, NY. Carter is an active member of the US SAILING Association and the architect of the successful Burgee Program, Gowrie’s custom insurance solution for yacht clubs. He resides with his wife and five children in Old Saybrook, CT.

Ed Gumbrecht, Chief Operating Officer and Principal
A native New Yorker, Ed is an alumnus of the State University of New York at Albany. He joined Gowrie in 2003 after an 18-year career with Aetna Casualty and Chubb Corp. Ed managed claims & loss, underwriting, administration, HR and marketing for carriers and consulted for many of the biggest companies in the insurance business. He resides in Madison, CT, with his wife and two daughters.

John Fisher, President and Principal, Personal Insurance Division
John, the founder of Fisher and Fisher Associates of Darien, CT – which merged with Gowrie in 2007 – has 25 years of property casualty, risk management, and personal risk advisory insurance experience at the corporate, agency, and individual levels. A lifelong boater, sailor, and ocean racer, John resides with his wife and three children in Darien.

Skip Young, President and Principal, Benefits Division
A competitive sailor and international racer, Skip sails his J105 from Duck Island Marina in Westbrook, CT. Skip began his insurance career at Paul Revere, where he managed the CT operations for many years before starting Gowrie's employee benefit’s division. Skip and his family reside in Guilford, CT.

Chris Pesce, Secretary and Managing Partner
Chris hails from the south shore of Long Island, NY, where he spent his days boating, fishing, clamming, skiing, and surfing. In the process of achieving his degree in business administration and finance at Saint Joseph's College, he interned for Maritime General Agency, which was later acquired by Gowrie. Chris resides in Madison, CT, with his wife and two sons.
